North Korea has joined the league of countries preventing the spread of the deadly virus, Ebola, into their country has it is taking additional precautions to prevent the importation of the deadly virus. Read more on UPI:
According to pro-North KoreanChoson Sinbo newspaper, travelers arriving from Ebola-affected countries will be subject to a 21-day quarantine at hotels in the western border city of Sinuiju.
Those quarantined could include foreign diplomats and international organization workers, the paper noted. All quarantined persons would be prohibited from all outdoor activity and outside contact.
“These measures were introduced as the Ebola virus is spreading outside of Africa to the U.S. and West Europe,” North Korean health official Pak Myong Su was quoted as saying. “The national emergency disease preventive committee is making utmost efforts to fight the penetration of Ebola, which has not reached the country yet.”
Last month, travel agencies based in Beijing reported that North Korea was imposing a ban on international tourists effective Oct. 24 to prevent Ebola from entering the country.
